This week in Superkids, we will:
Read words with /s/ /z/ /ss/ and /zz/ Recognize and practice plurals Encode pattern words and spell memory words Recognize syllables Understand long and short vowels Use memory and pattern words to complete sentences Read and write words with plural endings –s and –es Participate in discussions Ask your child: What does plural mean? If a word is plural, what should it have at the end? How many syllables in the wordhelicopter? This week in writing, we will: Understand the writing process Edit our first drafts of our Autobiography Revise our first drafts Create a second draft Understand how to “extend” a sentence to clarify our thinking Understand mechanics Ask your child: Why do writers need to write more than one draft? What does every sentence need? Do you know what step comes next after Revising your draft? This week in math, we will: Solve a comparison story problem with the difference unknown Dig deeper into subtraction Practice moving left and right on the number line Practice one-step word problems Continue working on number strings Develop fluency with addition and subtraction up to 20 Ask your child: Does order matter with subtraction? Why? When using a number line, do we go left or right with subtraction?
