This week in Superkids, we will learn about homonyms and nouns and verbs. We will also discuss what nouns can also be verbs. Our spelling pattern for the week are words that end with –le and-ng. Please make sure your child is practicing the spelling words several times a week. The spelling lists contains words that have the spelling pattern for the week as well as memory words. Ask your child: what is silent at the end of a words when the words ends in –le.
This week in literacy, your child will start their first book club. We have finished reading our non fiction Super Magazine. Your child will begin reading Frog and Toad and start participating in their daily “book talks” Book Talk Journals are a place for children to explore their thoughts and opinions. Ask your child, what did you write about in your book talk journal? This week in writing, we are discussing run on sentences and how to fix them. Your child will also begin the drafting process of writing their autobiography. Ask your child to give you and example of a run on sentence. How would they make it shorter? This week in math, we will really dive into story problems and analyze the vocabulary needed to solve them. We will start with comparison problems. Ask your child: Mrs. Brady has 25 pencils. There are 18 students in the class. Are there enough for the class? Are there extra pencils? Does Mrs. Brady need more pencils?
