This week in Superkids, we will:
Read pattern words that begin with Ww Recognize ways an author conveys how a character feels Read and write words with prefixes mis- and dis- Read “tricksters” with unusual word patterns Participate in discussions Ask your child: What does the prefix mis- mean? What does the prefix dis- do to a base word? What are some ways an author will show how a character feels This week in math, we will: Finish lesson 21 on adding and subtracting length Represent and interpret data Relate addition and subtraction to length Interpret marks on a line plot as data Understand that the numbers on a ruler or number line can be used to represent a given length Vocab: data, line plot Ask your child: How is a number line like a ruler? What is a line plot? When would you use a line plot? This week in PBL, we will: Discuss cause/effect for each of the natural disasters Understand what is FEMA and their purporse Choose which group your child would like to focus their invention Start planning ideas and inventions that would help in a natural disaster Reintroduce expected writing piece by end of project Ask your child: What causes an earthquake? (tectonic plates shifting) What is the effect of an earthquake? (roads split, buildings fall) Important Dates: 3/4- No school for students 3/11- Class picture day 3/20- Multicultural Night 3/22- March birthday celebrations 3/25-3/29 No school for Spring Break
