Understand word sense (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs) to make detailed sentences
Ask your child: What do adjectives and adverbs do? How do you explain your thinking in math? What is the writing continuum?
This week in math, we will:
Use a place value model to represent a 2-digit number as tens and ones
Use an equation to represent 2-digit numbers as the sum of multiples of ten and some number of ones
Determine the difference between a 2-digit number and a multiple of 10 up to 100
Find as many combinations of a 2-digit number as possible
Use standard notation to represent addition and subtraction situations
Ask your child: What are two ways to represent 43? (40+3, 10+10+10+10+3, 40+1+1+1, etc) How many tens and ones are in the number 67? (6 tens and 7 ones) What are different strategies you have done in class to add or subtract? (base ten, hundreds chart, counting on, number line, vertical double digit)
