This week in Superkids, we will:

Read words with /or/, /er/, /ear/, /ar/
Associate ed with /ed/, /d/, and /t/
Spell memory words
Recognized that ED represents past tense
Identify base words and endings
Encode words with and without spelling changes before adding /ing/ and /ed/
Understand meanings of comparative and superlative adjectives
Add /er/ and /est/ to compare things
Add /ed/, /er/, /es/, /est/, and /ing/ to words with final Y
Ask your child: If I add /ed/ onto the base word Skip, what is my new word? (skipped) What does ending sound /ed/ tell us? (past tense) What is an adjective? (describes a noun)

This week in math, we will:

Use a place-value model to represent a 2-digit number as tens and ones
Determine a quantity represented by a given number of tens and ones
Find combinations of 2-digit numbers, using only tens and ones
Recognize that different combinations of tens and ones for the same number are equivalent
Determine the difference between a number and a multiple of 10 up to 100
Use an equation to represent a two-digit number as the sum of multiples of ten and some numbers of ones

Ask your child: How many tens are in the number 47? How many ones? What happens when we are adding two-digit numbers and the ones-place value is greater than ten?

This week in writing, we will:
Understand the difference between nouns, verbs, and adjectives
Understand word order
Recognize that using detail makes us stronger writers
Begin a character study with Stellaluna
We will use our character findings to write about how she changes (character traits)
Ask your child: What is a noun? Verb? Adjective? Why do writers use those parts of speech? What is the story of Stellaluna? How does she change throughout the story?
