This week in Superkids, we will:
Decode pattern words with /igh/ and /stle/ and /scle/
Recognize that –ed endings indicate past tense of verbs
Read and write words with prefix re-
Participate in discussions
Read and understand the meaning of words that relate to the genre play
Use memory words to complete sentences
Work on fluency
Ask your child: What are some words with ending /igh/, /stle/ and /scle/? What does the prefix re- do to a word? How does a group of students read a play together?
This week in PBL writing, we will:
Discuss central messages in a text
Understand the lesson or moral introduced in a text
Begin brainstorming and planning for our narrative
Continue using venn diagrams to compare/contrast
Ask your child: What are some lessons an author will try to communicate through a story? What does compare and contrast mean?
This week in math, we will:
Subtract three digit numbers using base ten
Understand regrouping when practicing two digit subtraction
Add several two digit numbers
Compare numbers using greater than and less than
Focus on place value
Ask your child: Which number is greater 345 or 354? Why is it important that place value is lined up when adding or subtracting vertically? What does “Go next door and borrow ten more” mean when dealing with subtraction? How many ones are in a ten? How many tens are in 100?
