  • Friday is a HALF day of school. School will be released at 12:45.
 
  • Our field trip to the zoo is on May 8th. Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend this field trip if we do not get additional volunteers. This is also our family picnic day. Please let me know as soon as you can if you are able to chaperone.
 
  • I-ready end of year testing will be the first week of May.  
 
  • Field Day is May 17: Please have your child bring in a white t-shirt, labeled with their name. We will be tye-dying our shirts for field day!
 
  • The Southmoor Library: Library has been postponed until after the 5th grade musical.
 
  • Upcoming dates:
  • April 27th-Birthday celebrations for April
  • April 28th- Southmoor Auction
  • May 8th- Field Trip Denver Zoo We need LOTS of volunteers.
  • May 13th-Happy Mother's Day
  • May 17th-Field Day (May 18 rain day) Titus’s class participates 9:15-11:00
  • May 25th-Birthday celebrations for May and June
  • May 28th- No school-Memorial Day
  • May 29th- Second grade picnic at Southmoor Park
  • May 31st Last day of school- dismissal at 12:45
 
 
 
This week in Superkids Skills:
-Read Pattern Words with /ār/ spelled air, airy, ear, are, erry, and ary
-Use because to connect parts of a sentence that tell cause and effect
-Identify meanings and correct spellings of homonyms
-Identify base words and endings
 
 
This week in writing:
-Continue to work on writing and publishing our own magazine.
-Use references and resources
-Plan and draft a Super Short article
-Plan and draft an acrostic poem
 
This week in guided reading:
-Work on strengthening our non-fiction comprehension strategies by:
-Determining important ideas 
-Drawing and support conclusions 
-Responding to text 
-Giving and support opinions 
-Connecting text to self or experience 
-Recognizing alliteration 
 
This week in math:
We will start Unit 7 in math. This unit will focus on:
-investigating even and odd numbers
-setting the foundations for multiplication by visualizing equal groups and describing and representing equal groups.
