This week in Superkids, we will:
Read pattern words with long e spelled ee, ea, ie, -ine, ey, y, and silent e
Read and write words with suffix –ness
Understand adjectives and nouns
Participate in discussions
Participate in a spelling test
Ask your child: What does the suffix –ness do to a word? How is weak/week a homonym? What about see/sea? What is an adjective you can use to describe a flower?
This week in math, we will:
Collect data to display in picture and bar graphs
Compare data in a tally chart, table, picture, or bar graph
Interpret graphs by reading and comparing the data shown in the graph
Complete a picture and bar graph
Create a bar graph from a given set of data
Ask your child: What do you do when writing the fifth tally? How are picture graphs like bar graphs? Why are labels important when reading and building a bar graph?
This week in PBL/writing, we will:
Write draft #2 and #3 for our letter to FEMA
Participate in the peer editing process
Meet with Mrs. brady for a conference on rubric
Plan how invention will be built with standard items (cardboard, paper, tape, straws, etc.)
Create their invention!
Ask your child: Why do we write more than one draft? What are some goals you have set for you for writing? Explain your invention to me!
